Baba manifested himself as a old man to give darshan
BABA MANIFESTED HIMSELF AS AN OLD MAN AND GAVE DARSHAN TO SHRI L. D. SOMARAJ,
233, AUSTIN TOWN, BANGALORE.....
I am an ex-serviceman from the army. I have been devoted to Sri Sai Baba since
1940. I have ten children out of which three were born as triplets. They are all
safe and sound.
I had a small photo of Baba and worshipped it wherever I went. In 1941, I went
on leave to my native place in Bangalore from Jabalpur. I met Sri
Narasimhaswamiji at Bezwada railway station. He came and sat beside me. He spoke
about Baba. He also gave me a one anna coin with his blessings and asked me to
keep it in my daily pooja.Upon reaching Bangalore, I told my parents about my
meeting with Sri Narasimhaswamiji and requested my mother to become a Sai
devotee.
One day, while I had gone to see the evening show of a movie, a sadhu appeared
at around 7.00 p.m. outside the compound of my house. It was raining heavily.
The sadhu was dressed in white and had a piece of cloth tied around his head
like Baba. He stood outside shouting “No one should come outside the gate as
there is a cobra there !” My mother asked him, “What is there outside, Baba ?”
She called him Baba as he resembled Sri Sai Baba. The old man replied, “There is
a cobra standing outside the gate. It will go away soon; but nobody should come
outside.” Hearing his voice, my neighbour opened the door of his house. He saw a
big cobra standing outside the gate of our compound. Baba asked my mother to
give some milk to the cobra. The cobra went away after drinking the milk.
My mother requested the sadhu to come inside the house; but he refused. He asked
my mother for some food which she served on the stone outside. After taking
food, he asked her for some money. My younger sister immediately went inside and
returned with Rs. 5/- which she offered him. He next asked for a sack to cover
his body. My mother asked my father for one; but he refused. The old man said,
“There are fifty sacks in the pooja room. You may give me one of those.” My
mother and father were taken aback at these words and gave him one sack. He
smoked a cheeroot by sitting on the stone and left a handful of ash on the
stone. Later he left saying he would visit us again some other day. My younger
sister followed him to the next crossing from where he disappeared.
When my brother, sister and I reached home after the movie, there were
heavy rains and our compound was flooded. My mother told me about the old man.
We all went to the big stone where he had sat and to our amazement, the ashes of
the cheeroot (vibhuti) were dry and not drenched despite the heavy rains.
My father, a police officer too wondered about this miracle of the old man (Sri
Sai Baba) and he too started to worship Sri Sai Baba.
Is this not Baba’s leela to create faith in His devotees ?
